| I will resole the Brute this summer. I know, or think I know I want Big Horns. 1.0 or 2.0?? Is the only difference radial versus bias? Is there another difference I'm not seeing? Sidewall thickness in particular. And since I'm not planning to go radial, are the Dirt Tamers a good alternative? They are 1/3 of a new GPS less expensive. The quad rides fine with the Mudlite XL's.
Any comments would be appreciated!

| I've never run anything except Maxxis BigHorns besides the original OEM tires on a unit. Don't think I'd be a FAN of the new 2.0 BigHorns because of less tread height and the lugs are spaced further apart, which both save weight, but I don't think they'll last as long for mileage. There's several interesting Big Horn "look a likes" on the market, but finding specs may be hard. Usually for most price will be the first factor, followed second by performance. Please keep us posted on anything you find out... Here's some numbers for comparison from Maxxis website. | |

| I was not aware that the 2.0 were bias ply not radials. My personal opinion is; run nothing but radials especially with independent rear suspension. Reduction in tire roll and increased ground contact cannot be beat on a radial. I will say I’m not a Big Horn guy this may get me beat however at the next get together I show up at. I have my reasons for this however tire wear is not one they wear like iron. | |

| I want to confirm the 1.0's are slightly bigger overall than other tires? Meaning a '25 is more like a 26' kind of thing. If that is the case, I could go back to stock size and not lose much, if any, ground clearnce versus the Mudlite XL's.
And you are right Greg. Price is a major factor. Going to the Brute after 6 years on a straight axle, I have trouble grasping how the ride could be even better...

| Yes the original Big Horns are bigger than the nominal size. 25's actual size are closer to 26in. | |

| LeeI was told the 2.0 were more supscetible to sidewall blowouts. However one of my original 1.0 Bighorns had to be replaced after many many plugs in it.Hope this helps. | |

| Just curious how much air pressure you're running in your bighorns? I used to run 4-5 lbs in the terracross radials when I had them on my brute and had two ruined with sidewall pinches. When I got the bighorns I started running 6-8 lbs of air in them and havent had but one sidewall puncture and it was a puncture..not a pinch cut | |

| All the 25" BH's on the quads ~ a heavy 5# all the way around
26" on the RZR usually put 8 or 9 # in those.

| Bighorns! there is definitely a love affair going on here with them things. I ran them on my Polaris 700 for a long time. My personal opinion and just that opinion, Is this. One the sidewall issue I had a time with them. I could have been running them too low on pressure but I don't think I was. I would say they have on a scale from one to ten are a seven to eight on sidewall toughness. Not bad just not the best available. Two they have a bit too much tread for me not bad just a little aggressive. Face it if you ride in WV you are going to ride on some pavement. The front of my ATV would vibrate and shake. Okay I ran three different radial sets of tires on that ATV, only had that issue with the Bighorns. Could have been my ATV but who knows. However you do have to decide what you want maybe that’s better for you in the mud. I am a ride around the mud hole guy for the most part. However they do wear very good on the tread you get a ton of miles out of them. I am running ITP Bajacross right now. So far I like them not one puncture running 5 PSI. They hook up good in mud and snow run smooth. 1200 miles are not showing any wear yet. They have a thick sidewall 8 ply radial good rim guard. But there is no ring on her finger yet I'm taking it slow. FYI I have personally run Maxxis Bighorns, Goodyear Rawhides, ITP Terracross and the Bajacross.
