| Well I knew the Ol' buckboard drum brakes wouldn't hold up forever. Since looking into it the shoes aren't really the trouble, it's something else yet to be determined. While pulling the drums off and inspecting everything, the lower shock mount bushings are "gone", the lower shock bolt spacer that is still there is about half the size it used to be. All I can say is; she's hard on the ol' bike. Also in the thick of things while removing the shocks I could see a nice shiney spot the size of a dime on the top of the upper balljoint sockets. Yep it's worn clear through the joint. So...deeper and deeper we go into tearing it apart. A-arms are off, knuckles cleaned up and the four balljoints are now pressed out, waiting on new ones along with new wheel bearings. Also coming UPS Brown are two new front shocks and springs to help soften the Ol' Buckboard up a little... The saga continues at 7105 miles ... (04 Honda Foreman 450S ~ FootShift) | |

| I think GUG needs an intervention. She sure isn't your normal quad "guy". Heck, I'm rationalized a new quad because a headlight bulb had burned out. Oh...Never mind...She could have used that excuse years ago... Keep us updated. Good post. Good luck. | |

Nope... it was dry as a bone inside, even the ones that still looked alright on the outside were very dry and cakey looking inside when torn down for a closer inspection. I bought a grease gun needle and put a little extra grease in all the Grizzly ball joints when I just installed those and will do the something for the Honda. That will definitely help them last longer and would be a good idea to check them every year or so to be sure they look alright. Grease Injector Needle

| Just another note ~ when you've got your quad up on the jack for anything your doing check and be sure that there's no up & down play in the upper or lower shock mounts. The slop in the two bottom front shock mounts didn't help the life of the upper ball joints taking the shock of the a-arm force. It's not something that I usually checked closely when looking for ball joint or wheel bearing wear. Good Luck. | |

| You sure are busy! On the shock topic, where did you source from? I've toyed with the idea of replacing mine but at $200 a pop (stock) I decided to toy with other things instead. | |

There Canadian Kimpex Brand... ordered them from Wheel-A-Way Motorsports in New York and the were dropped shipped straight from Canada. approx. ~ $50 each for an OEM style replacement. Link
