Communications with DCNR representatives as of January 24, 2013
· The Bloody Skillet ATV Park is open for the winter season.
· However, the 6 1/2 mile connector trail from the Township Road is closed until further notice.
· DCNR is reconstructing the steepest grade of the connector to the park in the form of a switchback.
· Reconstruction will start at the beginning of March.
· DCNR will notify the SSRTA when construction is completed and re-opened for use.
Please be patient while the connector is improved to make the trail safer for everyone.

The SSRTA will be scheduling work details on the Bloody Skillet -- Approximate dates are: May 13 through May 17, 2013. Work will consist of Brushing, clearing trees from trail, collecting trash, installing signs, maybe some painting. We are asking for volunteers to meet at Gillentown Trailhead at 8am. We will travel to DeHaas Road upper most parking area and start work from there. Tools needed - pruners, "saws - hand and power"-, pull chains & pull ropes, atvs-utvs and carts to haul tools, trash etc. SSRTA will provide soda, water and hoagies to all volunteers that notify us 24 hrs in advance that you will be volunteering. Due to inclement weather, some work details may be cancelled. So, please followup with Larry Mayes at 814-387-6518 or email: ssrta1@gmail.com to confirm work detail. Please support our trails by volunteering some time to help out.

DCNR has advised the SSRTA that Whiskey Springs & Bloody Skillet and the Bloody Skillet Connector ATV Trails will be open for Memorial Day Weekend starting Friday, May 24, 2013.

The Bloody Skillet Connector has new marking starting with number 56 near the gas line side of the connector. The numbers continue to number 46 near DeHaas Road. These sign numbers will be used for Emergency Service personell as well as all atv riders. So, please leave signs in their proper locations.

Reminder - Speed Limit is 20 MPH on Snow Shoe Township Roads that lead to the Bloody Skillet Connector. While riding in groups of more than one, please follow in a line behind each other and stay on the right side of the road.

When seeing vehicles approaching from the opposite direction, please slow down and do not dust them -- present a positive image.

Please have an enjoyable summer while riding safely.

Dcnr did a good job on the hill on the connector. Took out the steep part and put in a couple of switchbacks. Big improvement
