Take 2

Had a report all typed up, then somehow deleted it Sad

Several weeks ago Bev and I decided it was time to visit HMT so I called our friends in Gilbert and and we booked the Chalet.

So as I said in the other one, we started our 3 days at H/M by stopping at Bearwallow. Pretty much a 50 mile uneventful ride. Only one trail closed way back on the north 40. Upon arriving back at the parking lot there was a gray Silverado sitting next to mine, Sportsman. Went back up the mountain looking for him, but we didn't connect until that evening at Livingoods. We went back to Man for supper at Keiths Bar and Grill, Jeff has proof Very Happy. Later the town of Gilbert put on an excellent fireworks display.

Thursday found us at Buffalo Mountain. The day started out pretty good, then we started running into downed trees. I took what was suppose to be a chain saw, a Poulin (purchased a Stihl chainsaw first thing after arriving home). We managed to keep it running long enough to get to the end of 25 (we could see the highway) anyway we cut through one tree and it wouldn't start for the second one, so we had to double back to 12 & 11 to Williamson. Lunch at Starters. On the way back we met up with a thunderstorm so we took a short cut back to the trail head. Still got in 50 miles.

Friday Bev and I headed for Rockhouse. Went to Man for lunch after a couple tree detours. On the way back we were on 14 and found out a tree was down at 14 and 34 intersection, so back around the mountain to 31-30-19-12. Long day, lot of detours. We did find our way to the overlook on 93. Started at 9a got back in at 7:30p and 105 miles

Upon arriving home we found out power had just come back on after being off for 7.5 days. That completed a great mini vacation.

Just need to find a good saw holder, or figure out how to make one.

Great Report Ed, I researched the chain saw holders but in the end I ended up making my makeshift one. I liked the looks of this one

http://www.ktmpartshouse.com/eshopprod_cat_7630-65282_product_1178802.CHAINSAW_HOLDER.htm

and I had found one for less than 50 bucks but I'm cheap and mine works sooooo Smile

Great report Mr Ed.

Clearing trails can be as much fun as riding on trails.

In small doses. Laughing

Thanks for sharing!

Yes in very small doses it was just a little to warm to be using a chain saw

trail clearing isnt bad as long as the cutter is gas powered. I've made the mistake of clearing with a hand saw...its a little too much work for a tall fat boy Smile
