NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a 62-year-old man died and his wife suffered from exposure after they became stranded for several days while riding an off-road vehicle on a muddy logging road in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
The Mining Journal of Marquette and the Daily Press of Escanaba report that the couple from Marquette County's Marquette Township became stranded Friday afternoon in Negaunee Township. The woman, also 62, left to find help but was unsuccessful and they spent three nights in the woods.
Authorities say that on Monday morning the woman was able reach a county road, where she was helped by a passerby. Rescue crews later recovered the man's body.
The woman was suffering from exposure and was treated and released from Marquette General Hospital. Names weren't released.
Please be careful. Be prepared. Never ride alone.
