I avoid Bull Gap like the plague. Mile after mile of whoops.

Scroll down for printable maps.

My favorite trails are Indian River, Kalkaska, Drummond Island & Geels.
Michigan's ground is sandy so that lends itself to miles of whoops, but some trails are better than others. Drummond Island is a large rock with little rocks on top of the large one.
Trails are typically tight, maintained at 50" wide and less so when going around a curve if there are trees to go between.
Routes are maintained at 72" wide and are usually sled trails and forest roads. High speed and good for beginners. Huron Trail is a nice easy route for SxSs.

Some counties you are allowed on the shoulder or right side of the road surface to go into town for gas or food. NO riding on "M" / State roads or "US" Federal roads. Interstate highways as well are off limits.

Some trail systems have a mix of TRAIL & ROUTE that crisscross each other.

If anyone is interested in coming up, let me know and I'll try to set something up with my ATV club, http://www.atvoffroad.net/forums/index.php

Here's a ride report from some WI riders.

Good report, sounds like a fun trip. We went to the UP last August, Grand Marais. Rode 3 days, fun trip, trails were different.

Northern of LP before Mackinac Bridge. Exit 310.
It has some tight twisty trails as well as some wide open routes. Parts of it were recently reclassified from dirt bike to ATV so they are narrow and rough in spots. 50" max.
