| A different kind of ride report. Yampol had the day off, perfect weather for a ride on the trike! We started out late morning with temps in the high 60's and full sun. Destination Gettysburg. From home we took Rt. 66 to Smithsburg then 491 thru the orchards to Ft. Ritchie. Onward to 550 towards Blue Ridge Summit. The temperature dropped as we headed up the mountain, not too cold but brisk. We then headed East on 16, and crossed to Fairfield on Jacks Mountain Road. I thought the foliage would be colorful. It wasn't. In Fairfield I noticed an establishment with a "Ying" sign...I think it was Venturies or something similar. (Rad Red 44...do you know?) Anyway, from there it was on to Battlefield HD in Gburg via 116 & 30. A little construction and a little busy in downtown Gburg. After a purchase @ the HD dealer it was off to the Pike for a late lunch. Yum. We both had the special...a "Belly Buster Fish Sandwich" and potato soup for $5.95 p/p. We were so stuffed we could barely get back on the trike. Now, how to go home. Yampol decided to take 97 back to Gburg so we could head west on 116 back to Fairfield. A 5 minute ride to get to 116 ended up taking 30 minutes. (Note: DO NOT go thru Gburg on Friday afternoon!) We then continued back to 16 toward Waynesboro and Midvale Road toward Ringgold. All was well until we left Smithsburg on 66... apparently there was an accident. We could hear the sirens but couldn't see anything as we sat in traffic. A quick left on Pondsville, back up the mountain and across Crystal Falls toward Boonsboro! Yampol made a pit stop @ the l/s for something cold & silver, home about 5. Approx 100 miles... beautiful weather, good food. Where can we go tomorrow? | |

| Nice reports/pics by all. Wi-Fee and I spent parts of the two past weekends in Gatlinburg. LOVE going there, but traffic is bad every evening. Not just Friday. That is why we stay at the first place on the right after leaving the park. You can walk to all the eateries with ease. We noticed quite a few trikes. Mostly really nice ones likes Yampol and Tequila's. A couple with some sort of....boat trailer kit conversion??? We also saw a couple trikes that looked like they had somehow blended the trunk of a small car into the motorcycle. Very nicely done. Beautiful paint schemes. Both machines had the sound of chevy small blocks whenever the rider blipped the throttle... | |

Sounds like a nice ride. You must have been through the downtown metropolis of Fairfield to run across Ventura's, local watering hole and eating establishment! Some time you'll have to stop at the Frontier BBQ at 16 & 116, listen to bluegrass music and chow down on a "Hillbilly Feast"! | |
