Sportsman and I decided it was time to ride and break in the new 570, so on Feb 28 we headed out. Met at Shoney's for a BIG breakfast. After that we headed south to Ivy Branch where we put in about 30 miles on using the green and blue trails.

Now after that ride we headed to Little Coal River, we were the only ones there and it didn't look like anybody had been there since the snow, another 18-20 miles of slipping and sliding.

Now for my opinion of the 570 after 50 miles or so. First of all I had the shocks set to tight which made for a pretty rough ride. Tried adjusting them but that was not going to happen, too much weight. The back adjustment is hard to get to because the lower suspension arm is in the way, front just wouldn't turn.

I was surprised at the stock tires they hooked up fairly good in the snow, I ran 7 lb. in the front and 8 in the rear, that needs to go down a lb. along with a light shock adj.

Power wise I noticed right away that it did not have as much giddy up as the 800, but I expected that. You just had to push a little harder on the right peddle and it would move just fine.

Now my favorite part, engine breaking, it was outstanding, in high or low range, it should be a LOOOOOOOOOOG time before replacing brake pads.

Next they have made inside cab area deeper ( for the long legged riders)

Fuel mileage wont know for a while.

Over all I like it.

Glad you and Sportsman got out for a ride.
Nice write up on the 570.
That's nice about the engine brake.

Tried looking at your pictures but the would not come up.

Great pics Ed. Looks pretty cold though. Glad you like the new machine. Everybody talks about replacing their stock tires, well I got about 1800 miles out of ours and went everywhere. Enjoy!

Was wondering if you would brave the cold for a test run !
Fuel mileage is great ! I have run 120 miles on a full to the brim tank in WV.
Get less in Ohio for obvious reasons ..
You still need to change brakes frequently ( Stock pads are soft ) probably because of mud causing the pads to drag .
I have disassembled my brakes , cleaned out the mud , lubed & reassembled - while performing other repairs such as bushings , cv boots and balljoint repairs
Yes just push the gas pedal further , but the power band is smooth and at higher rpm than 800 is .
Stuff is easier to get to & repair also - like the starter for example .....
I recommend some sort of front cv boot guard , they are exposed and I had 2 incidents already with mine before getting guards
