| Rode the Wayne National Forest trails Friday - went solo for a relaxing ride . It was drier than I thought but once the tree canopy fills in the water will hold . Very dusty behind me on the main trails ( because of grooming & gravel ) but nice & soft on the less traveled ones. Rode from p-5 in door run to new Straitsville , 3 mile loop& hit town@ Begleys - toured town of New Straitsville , back to 3 mile loop again went onto Camp Ohio connector & back was about to ride more UDT in the reclaim area and to the LR connector from MC when Both rear hubs splines stripped on the Prairie on an uphill so I had to ride it in 4x4 the rest of the way (17miles )& stuck to marked trails. Nice leisurely 50+ miles of riding. There were a fair amount of riders for a Friday , I left at dusk/ 8 pm and there were more coming in. Saw a few Razrs on the trails , rode some UDT between pop shack and 5 way intersection on main corridor that was real nice - still a lot of trees down on UDT. May come back soon with dirtbike & ride Long Ridge . Ed - Is Buchtel gas station open again? They still look the other way if atvers behave don't they Heard Haydenville is becoming ATV friendly also with Purdam rd as the connector . | |

| Buchtel is ATV friendly, although the State Patrol might frown on it, and YES the gas station IS open. You sure had a good day to get out. The pictures | |

| It they got rid of the 50 in rule they would have to widen all the bridges & the the side spur trails , which means more gravel , dust ,tree cutting , bulldozing & less mud . The main loop trails & corridor are wide enough now To go over 50 inches except for the bridges but the other side trails are not . There are a lot of tight places they would have to eliminate. Personally I like the tight twisting trails there & wish they would leave them alone . My Polaris sp 800 is too big to have much fun down there unless you stay on the main trails , But I still have the narrower & smaller Prairie & dirtbikes which suit that place just fine . | |

| A friend of mine & former co worker Dave just got a KFX 400 so we went to punish it yesterday during a spirited 7 hr afternoon /evening ride down at the Wayne National forest in the heat , rain & ensuing fog ;D Quit about 9:30 last night , soaking wet to the bone but it was so hot out it didnt matter Looks like Lee & Danger Dave have been here and Stamped the old map on the sign
Took my 400ex Met up with a Punishing thunderstorm about 6pm Took shelter & Waited it out under the Purdam waterfall

| After getting punished in the heat on my days off replacing rusted brake lines front & rear on a Chevy truck I was ready for a ride . Problem was it was miserable hot & I had people coming over in the following afternoon to buy things from me ... Last Minute Solution - pack up van (actually never had unpacked from last week )& leave at 4:15am to go for a fast pace ride & be done by 11:30- noon so I could be back by 1pm. Fog/Humidity 100% Thick out this morning Arrived at Wayne National Forest @ 5:45 am as the sun was rising On trail just after 6 to catch the sun coming up over a pipeline climb Inspected quite a bit of user developed short-cuts Which quickly got me to the desired trail I wanted to travel This time of year sunrise seems to take a long time , or I was making really good time on the trail Already crossing rt 278 at Carbon Hill It's so early even the mosquitoes in the swamp are still sleeping But I'm not going to let the Indiana bats sleep in today ! Ain't seen them in awhile After that it was up the hill and over to whats left of the old Gob pile play area Them it was back on thru the woods along Monday Creek - Thought about doing Big Baja/Pipeline but since alone thought better of it .. Went past the defunct pop shack as campers were just starting to stir , continued untill I got to another favorite UDT Junction After a short break to air up a soft tire it was down the UDT then back on to the main trail

| A quick blast up the trail brought me to Airplane Hollow cemetery & oil well After a break it was on to see what was happening over at the hot summer no shade hell Camp Williams At 7:15am it was too early to get a Tall Boy trail pop from the store Next on the list .. 50 inch limit means 50 inches Camp Ohio has gone very sleepy quiet compared to days gone by Proceeded to ride the nice long "Bonus" trails & the big loop behind Camp Ohio , past the "Bend in the road" Cabins ,that brings you back out onto greendale rd Took the pavement back to Camp O. , legal trail back down the Main Corridor , At the road crossing Decided to shortcut back to Door Run , took a right at Dawley/Pitts road, left at Dawley rd , right on 278 then straight up the cow path at the jog in rt 278, past the leaf peeper trail & up the UDT back onto legit trail Punishing Thunderstorms have left a lot of fresh obstacles this week Blazing thru door run, down the trail closed for bridge repair , quick P-5 inspection then over to p-1 where a piece of heavy equipment had me hopeful something was happening ... Found nothing new happening ... A tight squeeze later I was in Purdam riding the inner trail , the outer loop , no water in the waterfall, then down the lawless path toward Haydenville , which is now Atv friendly - very rare in Ohio Then it was back up the UDT , then to Door Run , made a lap , Gassed up after burning a whole tank , over to the far hillclimb loop The water is really rusty today in the car wash 11:45 , time to load up & come back home....70-80 miles in almost 6 hrs | |

| Those trails were the replacement trails for the bypass the money wayne received 6 yrs ago. They are quoted as being open along with the bypass trails april 15th, 2014, but never did. Go figure. Talked with a few riders along the trail system saying rangers sit over there alot. Fyi | |

| New info for carbon hill from omta post
A follow up on our new ATV friendly town Carbon Hill in Hocking County. The town has a general store and carryout that has subs, pizza and general items. The designation will allow access to existing cabins rentals. Two local entrepreneurs have plans for new camp grounds. Part of the pending designation (Hocking County Commissioners Thursday) will allow the fire department at Ward Township direct access to the Wayne for search and rescue. The Wayne has also indicated with approval of the pending designation they would like to move the trail head closer to the town as the current location has safety issues.
