It was a brisk 53 F when I left New Bern in route to Mudsville, aka Busco Beach. The fog kept my speed down to near the posted limit of 70 on US 70.
I had a scary moment here when the GMC seemed hell bent on going to WV. It took all my strength to keep it in the left lane. I think it knew we were only 5 hrs from the steps.
After a quick stop at BK, I approached the gate.
Having arrived first and with 30-45 minutes to kill (according to DLMJR's text), I proceeded to run the crap out of the Brute as part of my Fuel Pump Testing Program. I paused here waiting for Darryl's crew to come by. Got quite a few (positive) hand signals from passing haulers.
I did manage to get a few 'stuck or sunk' pixs. Me, I stayed out of the ponds based on past experiences.
The crew:
A crew member stuck, and Mr Busco to the rescue. Yes. Those are train horns.
A crew member pulling a Lee, resting his ATV on it's side.
It was the best ride I've ever had there. Minimal dust and like riding on ice at times. EXTREMELY slick. The Brute did fantastic, not hickuping even once. WHEW!!
Mr I'll Roost You aside, It was a good group of riders. I don't think he was out to get anybody in particular. And I think he was just having fun!
He treated everybody equally.
