Planning a trip to WV

Hello all,
Our group is planning a trip to WV Outlaw and Hatfield trails in March. We recieved some sad news that our plant will be closing in 2013. We thought it would be great for everyone to get together before going in different career directions. All of the people in our group are great down to earth North Carolinians. We haven't established an exact date yet, but it will not be long. We are planning to stay at Mountain Top. It would be great to meet some of the members of QCR, learn the trails, and just have a great time. I will post more as I know the timeline.

Cool keep us updated. I am intrested in going to the outlaw trails too. have not been there yet.

Hate to hear places closing down, but planning a ride together is a great way to look up at things. Stop back and throw a date our way and somebody will probably be around I'm sure. Lot's of trail riding in any direction from Mtn. Top that's for sure. We had three great days during the ATVWV Turkey Trot VII.

As has been said start posting as the time gets closer. The club that I mostly ride with out of NC has somebody riding out of Hilltop probably 45 weekends a year. I am sure some will be riding every weekend in the spring.

Where in NC are you from?

I'm from Madison,NC just north of Greensboro. I'd like some info about the riding club BobT mentioned. As of now, the date for our ride is either March 19th - 24th or April 2nd - 7th. There are 14 of us that are planning to go, but that could change depending on work issues. Hunting season is almost over and several of us are getting ready for some fun. Hunting season actually becomes alot of work but I love it.

Our club is the Triad Trailblazers. We are in the Triad (Greensboro, Winston Salem, High Point area of NC). Link to our forum is below. We are a club that meets once a month at a local sports bar. We are a family oriented club, we don't drink while riding and you must wear a helmet. Our members have 6 trailers at Hilltop Escape. We ride both Outlaw and HM trails. We also take an annual trip out west. The last four years we have gone to The Paiute System, Taylor Park CO, Moab, and back to the Paiute.

We do not compete with sites like this one which have members from a much larger area. Anyone can join our forum but we have to meet you or ride with you to join the club. The club has been around for about 15 years and was started before there were all of the internet forums. In the past we have ridden at Forest Games which is up near you.

Forest Games. Now there's a flashback! I went there a few times - seems like long ago now. I thought it closed a few yrs back.

I think it is still open but on the down low. Tom, the owner, started logging back up a few years ago and the trails basically became impassable and dangerous. Our club used to have an annual contract with him and we could ride anytime for free. I don't know of anyone who has ridden there in a couple of years. It was nice since it was so close to the Triad.

Lee, how did someone from New Bern ever find Forest Games.

I rode once at forest games with Eddie Poff from Roanoke. He rode there and the place in Martinsville Va. It seemed like an ok place, just too far for me to drive.

The internet of course! The last time I was there it was part of a 'sweep' that included Brown and Rockwharrie. That may have been 2003 or 4. I do remember that big old house on the right where you paid somebody...

Sad to hear your plant is closing, I hate to hear that. Let me know when you are going. I live in Smithfield and go up there 4-5 times a year. I know the Outlaw trails pretty good and have stayed at Mt Top quite often. I might be able to swing a trip and help you find your way around.
We go up between Xmas and New Years every year. We go toward the end of January also.
Get a hold of Lee, he has a tremendous knowledge of the area and knows everyone.

Looks like we will be going March 13-17 for WV. Just happens to be March Mudness!
