The Guys from Knight Rifles Shoot the .950
When it comes to rifles, it doesn’t get bigger than the .950 JDJ. This 50-pound centerfire log of a gun uses a 2,400-grain load (240 grains powder) at a velocity of 2,100 feet per second. That’s 25,400 foot-pounds of muzzle energy in all. The recoil, as described in this video, is equivalent to 10 .30-06s firing at once.
If this sounds like something better suited to a tank, you’re right. Per an e-mail, it’s similar to a World War I tank shell, although Gun Digest is not able to confirm this trivia.
The folks at Knight Arms head to the range to fire the behemoth in this video.

Somethings wrong when your riffle barrel OD is larger that the OD of the objective lens on your scope. That things seems more of a novelity than practical weapon. What would a civilian use it for? It's obviously not comfortable to shoot. Seems too impractical for military use. Would like to know why it was created.

One more version of the old saying, “Mine is bigger than yours”, but for $8000
Seems to be a pretty useless, expensive toy, which I don’t need

If I only bought things I needed, I might be towing my '00 Trailboss behind my '72 Vega next time out to Utah. Ewwww to both of those ideas! You guys are right, though. Purely entertainment value. Here's another to occupy (waste) your time with. Cool (useless) gun. Entertaining video. At least this video shows a SXS. I know how much many of you enjoy SXS's.
