PostSubject: Greenridge, Md. - RZR maiden voyage   Mon May 10, 2010 7:00 pm

Ok, so we've been up to our ears in selling a property. Our new RZR has been patiently sitting in the garage. Mr. Yampol found time on Saturday to install the #*%@! skid plate. (Thanks Wacker) . Sunday was devoted to Mom! Monday morning Mr. Y vacation day, beautiful weather..."let's go to Greenridge." A quick stop @ MV Smith for a permit and then to the trail. For those not familiar with Greenridge, it's a Md. Forest, with an 18 mile OHV loop of varying terrain. The three brothers... Muddy,Rocky, & Dusty were all there! Two jeeps and a Dodge PU were on the back side at the Overlook. They were talking about how muddy the bottom section was (we've seen worse) obviously they don't know mud. First impression of the RZR...COOL BEANS! We were impressed with the power and the handling. (As some of you are aware, we ride small quads...no yamacliners here.) .
Hopefully the new skid plate is impervious to large pointy rocks as there was one that especially got our attention. Mr. Y last rode Greenridge on his dirt bike and didn't recall it being so rocky. Numerous times Mrs. Y was pointing at the AWD switch only for Mr. to say "NO not yet". The back portion evoked a loud scream, and the oh-crap bar works. Mr. Y had it on two wheels at opposite corners over a gully. It's all good. OK, on to a late lunch. No burger report. There is no place to ride for grub. You pack it in and pack it out. Mr. Y - half of a 5$ footlong, Mrs Y - half a cheese sandwich. Hey gotta be frugal when you can . A fun day even though we go a late start. RZR coolest ride we've owned.

A short day riding is better than no riding!

Yampol welcome to QCR. As you can tell the wife and I have an RZR. We used to ride a couple King Quad 700s. Great ride report. We are in Ohio so don't get over that way much. Have been with Wacker and group once to SSRT and Dan's farm. Again welcome and keep the ride reports coming.

Sounds like fun despite the ruts.

What is it with men and not wanting to use 4 wheel drive until absolutely necessary? scratch
Luckily it was not in a dire situation for you this ride and he was just seeing what the RZR could do. Smile

I recall some Grizzly and a Rubicon riders last year at HMT on Rockhouse 35 or 31 who did not use their 4X4 and spun out going up a hill. Since we were a big group, we all turned around and went the other way. Another group of guys were waiting for us to make up our minds and to turn around and one of the guys said, "You can easily make it up that hill with that Honda Foreman in 4X4." I was like, "I KNOW!, but these guys were goofing around and now some of our other riders are fearful of trying it."

Anyway, little rant and rave over... I do agree with finding out what your machine is capable of, so that you know before you get in a do or die situation. pale
