Got this out of the Columbus Dispatch

NELSONVILLE, Ohio (AP) - Ohio's national forest will now prohibit the use of alcohol by people riding offroad vehicles, such as snowmobiles and ATVs.

An order signed Thursday by Wayne National Forest Supervisor Jo Reyer also requires offroaders to wear helmets, and goggles or other eye protection.

Reyer says in a statement that officials hope the new rules will reduce the number and severity of crashes within the southeast Ohio forest.

A local fire and rescue department reports at least one-third of accidents involving non-highway vehicles were related to alcohol use or not wearing a helmet during the last five years.

Reyer says the forest expects the order to draw strong and varied opinions, both for and against.

Should help lower some of the accident rate.

I'm surprised to took this long to get those things in writing.

I gather this means ZERO alcohol when riding. It was my understanding that you can get a DUI on any motorized vehichle.

But what I really what to know is who is riding snowmobiles thru the forest? The trails close on Dec 15th and they are not legal on the forest roads.

Yep, it was in the paper last year that a guy with a motorized bar stool (yes bar stool) drove it to a bar, got drunk, and got a DUI while driving it home. drunken
