| Rode from Bramwell Friday and Saturday. The snow was this deep: But is was 'soft'. It blew right out of the way and didn't hang you up. I did choose to go around this drift. You can't tell from the photo but as I searched for Windmill Gap Road Friday morning, I found many indications HF is busy in there. The group: The house: When I went to WalMart Friday morning it was just before 7 and 3 degrees. When I turned off of 52, the temp was -1. I didn't even know it would show negative numbers! Before the others arrived, I went to Crumpler and had a cup of coffee with Ferrel and Shirley @Mountain Top. If you're curious, 15 miles one way. After getting in at close to 10 PM FRiday night we were pretty iced up Sat morning. Spent a little time with One Dave's heat gun. By the time we reached the steps, the machines were clear. Good thing too. It wasn't all that long before we needed the winch. Creek run aside, it was great riding. The big lesson here was STAY OFF THE CREEK TRAILS when the ice is thin! | |

| I had a great time. The main goal was to ride in January. Now I've ridden in WV all 12 months. That took 8-9 years to accomplish! Now that I've got that behind me I can settle in and just ride. I will say Jan and Feb were BY FAR the coldest and probably wont show up on the to do list again for a long, long time! | |

| No issues with the quad starting. I was surprised. And slopoke? Those mitts used in conjuction with the new hand / thumb warmer package were the absolute BOMB. Other riders in the group would take turns warming their hands up when we were stopped. That was just plain 'ole awesome... | |

| Good report Lee. Liked the pictures. Having the right gear can make or break a ride in winter time.
I can't say I'd wanna ride in single digit temps, I have rode in the teens before but that's about my limit.
Was that a creek crossing or a mudhole you two busted thru?

I assume this was a "bucket list" priority? Can anyone else out there boast the same? Class? Anyone?! Anyone?!

| A goal. One I set after I realized I had only a few left. It didn't start out as a plan.
That was a mudhole Dave and I sat in. Kind of ironic that it's one I ALWAYS go around in the summer. The two guys ahead of me made it across. I was the first one that didn't! CRACK!
It warmed up throughout the time I was there. It probably made 30 or so Friday (briefly)and was 37 when I pulled out Saturday afternoon. If you weren't out in the open or up high, it wasn't bad.

| I guess we'll have to start a club or something! "The Yearrounders" or "12monthers" maybe... NOT!!! I do like cooler weather riding better myself. You can see more stuff, dust usually isnt as bad (not as many people?), and no bugs!! | |

Nope... out of all my trips I'm missing Feb. and Aug. figure that's the coldest and the hottest (dusty) months. The list brought back some great memories though, between 2004-2010 were 36 visits, I've tried to keep track of what, when, where, who; along with lodging info.
