- ...Well the news sucks. The 1 million that the state was giving for the grant got taken away because of some bed and breakfast being built by the dam on the lake up here. Evidently it's somehow being funded by the state. So they say next year for the connector.
Got his message from "turkeyhunter" on the rzrforum. It looks like the connector deal from Kato to BS fell through. Hopefully it will still happen, but not this year, apparently.

| Ya that does stink. State made a poor decision. I think ATV riders pump more money into the local economy then this B&B will. | |

| I've not heard a good reason yet why they even have to put in a new trail connector. Even the Director of Forestry that I talked with for that section of the state can't understand it. The township road you ride on to the end of the trail is legal, but the next township doesn't want ATV's on their section of township road for the 4 1/2 miles to the trailhead of Bloody Skillet at the brickyard in the town of Orviston. Two more comments we had with each other were; It might decrease traffic on the small tight road leading to the Orviston BS trailhead and could possibly open up an opportunity for a small store or place to eat near the town... just ideas. Here's a track for the route if taking the township road to Bloody Skillet. | |

| Even if it only kept me from having to park at the Orviston trailhead, that would be something! | |

That always worry's us a little... taking off to ride & people know when your gone for a while. Another reason the connector would have been nice, not have to park so close to the town. At least at the regular trailhead you never really can tell when people are going to come or go.

Yeah, at Orviston, they can hear you coming down the hill and be heading out by the time you actually get down to the parking lot. A connector would definately be nice.

| Some good info:
I got to talk with an SSRT board member about a few different things and the state has started some of the culvert and bridge work for the new connector from the township road to the BS trail syste.
