PostSubject: The Hawkeye gets a Big Brother!   Sat Jul 07, 2012 8:11 pm

Got a new addition to the garage today. We have been looking for a 2-up to replace the Hawkeye and maybe be a little better suited than the RZR for riding at Michaux. I came across this 2008 Sportsman 800 LE Touring on craigslist. It only has about 300 miles on it, and it's absolutely cherry.

Brought it home today and lined it up next to the Hawk. They look like twins (kinda like the Arnold Schwarzenegger/Danny Devito type). I showed a pic of the Hawkeye to the guy I bought the 800 from and he couldn't believe how much they looked alike, said it was a "mini me" of the 800.

scratch Man, Wacker's old RZR would have fit right in and made triplets with these two!

Sadly it's a little hard to justify having three ATV's, not to mention having limited storage space, so the Hawk will be going up for sale soon. Now I just need a bigger trailer (or a bigger truck)! Laughing

Radred I have one the same color and same year. I dont have some of the extra's you do. But it's been good to me so far. I bought mine on a thursday, loaded it up took it to Canada in '08. It did not have 1 mile on it when I unloaded and started the ride in Canada. I put over 500 miles on it the first week. Very Happy

Keep plenty of Grease in all the bushing, I use "Grean Grease". I did have to replace the "MAF" sensor wiring harness. it is a little short from factory and may cause running problem later in use. If it causes you a problem, A better version is available on E-bay than from the dealer.

I had that exact same machine including year. Loved it. Still the best riding ATV I have ever had. You will enjoy it.

I can tell you coming from 300-400cc machines this is a much different animal. Even at 800lbs, you need to have it pointed in a safe direction when you pull the trigger!

yes Bob it would. But no one else wanted to drag their Grizzly's with me. Shocked I think they were afraid of getting beat too. Laughing

I don't think a single person thought the brute could be beat. Maybe if the Tall Guy had tucked in a little. Jockey style. Very Happy I wonder what the record is for the tallest jockey. Laughing
A couple QCR Grizzlies already knew how fast G's brute was. Didn't need to feel any worse about our selves by getting even more beat by a two up Polaris. On that same Canada/UP trip a couple red Yammer's gave it their best shot. Notta chance. Hey G, remember DaddyO's rear pack exploding?
